[E100 Alert] - International Innovation Fundamentals - You are invited...

Dear E100:

With this E100 Alert, I am pleased to announce that Joyce Wycoff has recently been added as an E100 and is now featured on the Global Knowledge Leadership Map.

Many of you are already familiar with Joyce's work on the Innovation DNA, the ThinkSmart Monday e-mails and Convergence conferences. You may not know that she was the person who made available to us the first conferencing for the E100 that has now migrated to CoLayer!

Recently she launched an exciting collaboration project to define the Innovation Fundamentals; and you - as E100 - have been invited to participate.

Innovation is at interesting stage. If you are interested in the entire spectrum of innovation, we'd like to invite you to participate in a collaborative project to capture the fundamental essence of innovation.

WHY: There are a lot of great innovation practices beginning to be documented and discussed.  But what are the "fundamentals of innovation?" What things, if not done at all or not done well, could actually cause the failure of your innovation efforts?

WHAT: That's the question for the new, cross-discipline, international collaborative project to articulate and report a consensus on the foundational elements of innovation, focusing on five major areas:

-- Defining Innovation
-- Common Terms
-- Innovation Process Phases
-- Leading Indicators of Innovation
-- Innovation Fundamental Practices

We would like to invite you to participate in this unique, online collaboration which will use very simple tools such as collaborative blogs, wikis, and email to collect our thoughts and create a report which can be shared broadly. The online work will be supplemented by three teleconferences.

You can see the very beginning of the collaborative blog at http://thinksmart.typepad.com/innovation_2004/.

WHO: Innovation practitioners from corporations, non-profits and governmental units as well as consultants and academics will be taking part in this collaborative effort.  This deliberately diverse gathering is international in scope and represents many different organizational disciplines such as quality, the learning organization, knowledge management and others.

WHEN: This project starts in June and extends through mid- September. The flexible, online format will allow you to learn and contribute on your own time schedule.  The report will be distributed by all the sponsoring organizations in early October.

HOW MUCH: There is a $495 fee for registration which includes access to all the collaborative activities, listing as a co-author on the resulting report and a free one-year membership in the InnovationNetwork. Sign up here.
