[E100 Alert] – Knowledge Economics – the 1st E100 Readings a Reality

Dear E100:

It’s been a long time coming, but some things ARE worth waiting for!

The Tartu University Press delivered the 1st copies of our books last week; and at an Economics conference in Estonia , they were unveiled.

As many of you know, this has been a long process – an international case of innovation and persistence. Due to the interest and high quality contributions, what was intended to be one book became a tri-volume set – Knowledge Economics: Principles, Practices and Policies. As you might imagine, bringing together the words of 27 authors from 17 countries was no insignificant task; and we are indebted for the tireless hours given so freely by so many. Just look at the Table of Contents!

Enough cannot be said in particular for our co-editors, Dr. Piero Formica and Dr. Eunika Mercier-Laurent, who originally developed the idea at our Roundtable in Helsinki . Without their vision and resourcefulness, this project could never have come to fruition. Further, we benefited from the disciplined editorial expertise of Xenia Stanford and graphic design genius of Dr. Ron Dvir. But the real debt of gratitude goes to the on-the-ground midwifery of Professor Tõnis Mets and the generosity of Dr. Urmas Varblane – from Tartu University in Estonia - without whom we could never have made this vision a reality.

Clearly, this topic is now on the top of the agenda for many companies, countries and societal organizations. Creating such a major contribution to the field is a welcome achievement; and I applaud all your efforts – individually and for those collectively who serve as E100. Thanks to Dr. David Skyrme, a Review already appeared in Inside Knowledge magazine. Maybe you would like to write one yourself?!

So, join me in celebration and sharing your appreciation to all those involved. And if you didn’t make a pre-order, you can purchase through the Tartu University Bookstore for 42 Euros for the full set. And if you have some promotional opportunities within your disciple, industry or region, we are all ears!

Always in your Network,

Debra

P.S. A signing ceremony is planned for our meeting at the World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Oman . You should have received your E100 Alert on the WSIE as well as an invitation direct from Sam Hamden, Chief strategist for the Global Leadership Team. If you did not, PLEASE let me know!
