[E100 Alert] – Knowledge Economics – the 1st E100 Readings a Reality
Dear E100:
It’s been a long time coming, but some things ARE worth waiting for!
The Tartu University Press delivered the 1st copies of our books last week; and at an Economics conference in Estonia, they were unveiled. As many of you know, this has been a long process – an international case of innovation and persistence. Due to the interest and high quality contributions, what was intended to be one book became a tri-volume set – Knowledge Economics: Principles, Practices and Policies. As you might imagine, bringing together the words of 27 authors from 17 countries was no insignificant task; and we are indebted for the tireless hours given so freely by so many. Just look at the Table of Contents! Enough cannot be
said in particular for our co-editors, Dr. Piero Formica and Dr.
Eunika Mercier-Laurent, who originally developed the idea at our
Roundtable in Helsinki. Without their vision and resourcefulness, this
project could never have come to fruition. Further, we benefited from
the disciplined editorial expertise of Xenia Stanford and graphic
design genius of Dr. Ron Dvir. But the real debt of gratitude goes to
the on-the-ground midwifery of Professor Tõnis Mets and the generosity
of Dr. Urmas Varblane – from Tartu University in Estonia - without
whom we could never have made this vision a reality. |
